Worldbuilding: Plans for Aether & Void

Mild spoilers for Stonesinger below.

The Universe of Aether & Void is one in which mortal races struggle to survive in the shadows of Titans. There are six continents in the world of Occa (Yaqar Sahn, Tempis, Ignis, Bumie, Hanshu, and Borea), and many more subcontinents, like Umbra and White Reef. On all of them, civilizations struggle to live, love, conquer and grow, alongside their Titanic problems. Some are stifled beneath the order of the Titans of Aether, others have found ways to hide from the unbridled chaos of the Void Titans, and still more are crushed between Titans of Nature, great beasts worthy of worship that have come to embody and defend the natural elements.

The Universe of Aether & Void is one connected by a single conflict. And though Stonesinger might be readers' first entry into this world, it is by no means mine. I actually started with a character called Wayfarer far across the sea to the northwest of Yaqar Sahn, in a place called Tempis, the sister continent to Ignis. Alas, writing is hard, and while I focused my vision for how I want Way's story to unfold, I created Romond, a much simpler creature. There are four series planned for the Universe of Aether & Void, each consisting of 3-5 books, before the series culminates in one final trilogy.

My massive outline is as follows:

  1. "Stonesinger Saga" follows Romond's adventure across the sun-blasted desert of Yaqar Sahn. I'm currently working on Book Two of the Stonesinger Saga, which I'm pretty sure will be called Stoneforge.

  2. "Tales of Tempis" follows Wayfarer across the wild northwestern territories and frozen seas. This story is huge, and though it was my first, I want to make sure I have the literary chops to do it right. The plan right now is to alternate between Romond and Way releases.

  3. "Tales of Ignis" follows an ensemble cast (Wayfarer, Algus Bund, Cinderheart, Wildeye, and Aurophilius Smith) in the clash for Aurelium, the capital city of both Tempis and Ignis.

  4. "The Land of Sky" may in fact be a single novel, in which a young heroine unravels the mystery of who killed her god and what it means for her kingdom in the sky. It will take her across the land of Borea.

  5. In the final "Aether & Void Trilogy," a single protagonist (I won't say who it is) must assemble the heroes and knowledge necessary to save humanity. Everything is in play, but Bumie and Hanshu will be the focus here, at least initially.
